Copywriting Prices
Clear copywriting prices for small businesses
Good copy shouldn’t feel mysterious. You should have a fair idea what something is likely to cost before you get in touch, even if the final quote depends on the job itself.
At Yorkshire Writers, we usually quote by project rather than by the hour. That gives you a clearer price upfront and stops the job feeling open-ended. A website page, blog article, email sequence, or product description all need slightly different levels of thinking, planning, writing, editing, and SEO work, so fixed project pricing is usually the fairest way to do it.
As a guide, our working rate is:
Hourly guide rate: £45 per hour
Day rate: £300 per day
Most clients won’t be charged hourly. We include those figures because they help explain how we price larger, more flexible, or ongoing work.
How our prices compare with UK copywriting rates
Copywriting prices vary a lot. Some writers charge by the hour, some by the day, and some by the project. A junior writer may charge much less than a specialist copywriter with years of experience in a particular sector.
The ProCopywriters 2025 survey is often used as a benchmark for UK copywriting rates. The average freelance copywriter day rate reported from that survey is around £480.
Our guide day rate is £300, which puts us well below that wider UK average while we build Yorkshire Writers and continue developing our portfolio.
So our pricing is fair, clear, and realistic for small businesses that need better words on their website, emails, blogs, brochures, and marketing material.
Website copywriting prices
Website copy is one of the most common things we help with. Your website needs to explain what you do, build trust, guide people clearly, and give them enough confidence to get in touch.
Guide prices:
Home page copy: from £295
About page copy: from £200
Service or product page copy: from £160
Contact page copy: from £35
Full website copy package, up to 5 pages: from £700
For fuller website projects, we may recommend one of our website copy packages instead. These can include page planning, basic SEO structure, metadata, tone of voice work, and internal linking suggestions.
Website Starter Copy Package: £895
Up to 5 core pages. Best for small businesses that need clear, tidy, professional copy without lots of SEO research. Includes one briefing call, page structure, copywriting, metadata basics, and one round of amends.
Website SEO Copy Package: £1,250
Up to 5 core pages. Includes everything above, plus keyword research, SEO page structure, title tags, meta descriptions, and stronger internal linking suggestions.
Website Voice & Visibility Package: £1,650
Up to 5 core pages, plus a mini tone of voice guide, keyword research, SEO structure, metadata, and a short handover note showing how the pages should work together.
Blog and article writing prices
Blog posts and articles can help your website show up for more searches, answer customer questions, and give people a better reason to trust your business.
Guide prices:
Short blog post, up to 600 words: from £175
SEO blog article, 800–1,000 words: from £250
Long-form guide or article, 1,500+ words: from £395
The final price depends on the subject, research needed, SEO requirements, and whether we’re writing from scratch or working from your notes.
Email copywriting prices
Emails still work when they’re clear, useful, and written for real people. We can help with one-off marketing emails, welcome sequences, promotional campaigns, and customer updates.
Guide prices:
Single marketing email: from £120
3-email welcome sequence: from £325
5-email sales sequence: from £500
For ongoing email support, we can also quote monthly depending on how often you want to send.
Product and category copy prices
Product copy needs to do more than describe what something is. It should help customers understand why they need it, how to choose it, and what makes it right for them.
Guide prices:
Simple product description, up to 100 words: from £35
Category page copy: from £120
For larger product ranges, we’ll usually quote as a batch so everything stays consistent.
Social media copy prices
We can help with social captions, post ideas, content bundles, and simple monthly content support.
Guide prices:
Single social caption: from £45
3-post mini-pack: from £125
5-post content bundle: from £200
8 posts per month: from £275
12 posts per month: from £350
These prices are for copy and content ideas. Canva graphics can be added if needed.
Proofreading and editing prices
Sometimes you don’t need a full rewrite. You just need someone to tidy the wording, catch mistakes, improve the flow, and make sure the copy sounds more polished.
Guide prices:
Proofreading up to 500 words: from £50
Proofreading up to 1,000 words: from £85
Proofreading 1,000–2,000 words: from £120
If the copy needs heavier rewriting, restructuring, or a more detailed edit, we’ll quote for that separately.
Monthly copywriting support
Some businesses need regular help but don’t need a full-time writer. A monthly copywriting retainer can be useful if you need blogs, emails, website updates, social captions, product copy, or general marketing support.
Guide price:
Monthly support, 4–5 pieces of work: from £450
We’ll agree the type of work before the month starts, so everyone knows what’s included.
Why we don’t charge per word
Charging per word sounds simple, but it can be misleading. A short piece of copy can take more thought than a long one. A home page headline, a product intro, or a sales email may need planning, research, structure, editing, and several versions before it works properly.
We prefer to price around the actual job: what needs writing, how much thinking is involved, how much research is needed, and how the copy will be used.
What affects the final price?
The final quote may depend on:
-
How much copy you need
-
Whether we’re writing from scratch or improving existing copy
-
How much research is needed
-
Whether SEO work is included
-
How many pages, emails, posts, or products are involved
-
How quickly you need the work
-
How many rounds of amends are included
We’ll always try to give you a clear price before the work starts.
Need a quote?
Send us a few details about what you need, and we’ll give you a straightforward price.
You don’t need a perfect brief. Just tell us what you’re trying to achieve, what needs writing, and where the copy will be used. We’ll take it from there.
